ORIGINAL fUSE5 LIBRARIES
fUSE5 is a filamentous bacteriophage vector used for peptide phage display. Because the bacteriophage vector contains the genes needed for phage propagation, fUSE5 libraries can be amplified through transduction of E. coli without a helper phage.
The fUSE5 and f88-4 phage display libraries distributed by Cell Origins are the original libraries created by Dr. George Smith. Their diversity has not been verified by next-generation sequencing; diversity is referenced from the original research articles.

Filamentous phage display vector fUSE5
The fUSE5 phage display vector is derived by insertion of a synthetic 14 bp stuffer sequence into gene III of the filamentous phage vector fd-tet (AF217317.1). The frameshifting stuffer must be replaced with a frame-restoring peptide insert to express pIII and enable
E. coli infectivity. The fUSE5 vector can be used to create new phage display peptide libraries by replacing the 14 bp stuffer with random oligonucleotides.
